Weather causes changes

The district wrestling tournament was postponed from today and will start instead on Saturday.

The Division I meet at Fairfield will begin at 2:45 p.m. The Goshen Division II meet will be at 2 p.m. The Division III meet at Kettering Fairmont will begin at 3 p.m.

The competition resumes Sunday morning at those locations and the finals will be in the afternoon or early evening.

The girls' district bowling tournament has been postponed until 9 a.m. Monday at Eastern Lanes in Middletown.

Hall of Fame For Lakota West Principal

At the this weekend's state swim meet, Lakota West Principal Dick Hamilton will be inducted into the State Swim coaches Hall of Fame.

Hamilton began his coaching career at Talawanda High School in 1972. He also served as head coach at Wooster High School, GlenOak High School, and Princeton High School. In addition he served as an assistant at Southern Illinois University.

As a head coach he coached over 20 All-American swimmers and water polo players, Six State Champions and Record holders and one American record holder. His teams consistently finished in the top 10 at the State Championship Meet with his GlenOak men’s team finishing 3rd in 1977 and his GlenOak women’s team finished 2nd in 1978.

Hamilton’s high school teams also won numerous conference and sectional titles, 4 District Championships, and 2 District Runner-up titles. His Princeton High School Water Polo team won the State Championship in 1981.

While an assistant at Southern Illinois he had the opportunity to help coach collegiate All Americans, Olympians and a National Record holder. Hamilton served as Vice President on the Ohio High School Swimming Coaches Association from 1977-1978 & 1981-1984.

Gray named McDonald's All-American

Lakota West senior forward Amber Gray has been named a 2008 McDonald's All-American. She is one of 20 players selected to play in the McDonald's All-American game, which will be March 26 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Gray averages 19 points and over eight rebounds and has scored 1,845 points in her career at Lakota West.
