Spring sports season is here

The spring sports season starts today with Kentucky baseball and fast-pitch softball games.

The Ohio season officially starts Saturday with track and field and continues next week with baseball, softball and boys' tennis.

College commitments at Lakota West

The school announced two college commitments Tuesday night.

Senior cross country and track standout Jordan Parayil signed with Bellarmine University.
Parayil was cross country district runner-up, sixth at regionals and 38th at the state meet this past fall.

Also, junior Christine Brewer orally committed to play soccer at Ohio University. She also considered Dayton, Memphis and Kentucky.

Brewer was a first-team All-GMC selection her sophomore and junior seasons. She had seven goals and eight assists last fall.

St. Xavier in state semifinals

St. X plays Lakewood St. Edward in a Division I state basketball semifinal Friday at 5:15 p.m. at Ohio State's Value City Arena. It is the second consecutive state tournament appearance for both teams.

St. X defeated Withrow in the regional final last weekend to reach the state final four.

If St. X wins Friday, it will play in the state final Saturday night in Columbus.
