Baseball tournament set for weekend

• Moeller senior forward Terry Martin visited Wofford last weekend and is currently visiting Northern Arizona University. Both are Division I basketball schools. Martin might make a decision shortly.

Basketball commitments

College commitments seem to take place earlier every year. It's certainly getting more competitive.

It looks like Withrow 6-8 center Yancy Gates will make an oral commitment to UC on Monday, according to the Enquirer.

Gates is the second high-profile junior basketball player to make a commitment this week. Lakota West junior forward Amber Gray gave an oral commitment to Tennessee earlier in the week.

• Lakota West hosts Lakota East in an important softball game in the GMC Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Firebirds (4-4, 3-1) and Thunderhawks (11-2, 6-2) are in the top 3 in the GMC. Colerain (8-0, 7-0) is in first-place.
