Three Cincy Football Teams in ESPN Super 25 Poll

St. Xavier, Colerain and Elder are all ranked in this week's ESPN Super 25 poll. The Bombers are No. 4 followed by Colerain (No. 12) and Elder (No. 20). This only solidifies how strong Cincinnati football truly is.

Counting No. 15 Cardinal Mooney (Youngstown), that gives Ohio four teams in the top 25. So how does that compare to other states? Pretty damn strong, especially considering population:

Florida - 4
Texas - 4
California -3

Thanks for making high school football so great.

For years when the media and fans across the United States thought of great high school football they only thought of California, Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania.

Thanks to the coaches and players in the Cincinnati area, high school football is now spoken in the same sentence as the previously mentioned states.

Whether it is St. Xavier rolling Dematha Catholic on ESPN 28-7 in front of a national audience or Elder beating Charlotte Independence 41-34, handing CI their first loss in 110 games, or Colerain being the model of consistency, thank you.

Whether it is Anderson and Turpin beating division I teams or Newport Central Catholic and Highlands winning multiple state championships in Kentucky, thank you.

For every young man that puts the effort and dedication into two-a-days, laces up his shoes and straps on his pads for every game, thank you.

For every parent that sat through mindless hours of practice, washed many grass and blood stained uniforms and sat through rain storms and snow, thank you.

For every coach that gave of their time, molded these young men into fine citizens and role models as well as good football players, thank you.

For every fan that went to games and sat through terrible weather, carried your team flag and colors, supported your team even when they weren't playing for anything other than pride, thank you.

Thank all of you for making high school football some of the best in the country.

Take a bow.
