New Hacks Fab 5 Poll

Cincinnati Big-School Division

1. Moeller (11-1) - Crusaders have played a tough schedule and are unbeaten against local competition. They are 3-0 against GCL South schools and beat USA Today No. 9-ranked Lincoln (NY). Only loss has been to USA Today No. 1-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (NJ) 56-45.

2. St. Xavier (10-1) - Bombers lone loss of the season is to No. 1 Moeller. Ten wins are by double figures.

3. Elder (9-2) Panthers have a quality win over La Salle (54-52) with close losses to Moeller (49-44) and St. Xavier (63-53).

4. Withrow (8-2) - Tigers are unbeaten against local competition and have quality wins over small-school power Taft and Scott County (KY).

5. Princeton (8-3) - Two of Vikings' losses have come to out-of-town competition.

Cincinnati Small-School Division
1. North College Hill (8-3) Trojans have not lost to a Cincinnati small-school team yet.

2. Taft (8-3) - Senators have played a tough schedule and hung tough with Withrow (71-63) and Dunbar (66-60) before losing.

3. Deer Park (10-1) Wildcats riding a six-game winning streak with only loss to date a 60-54 setback against No. 5 Wyoming.

4. Lockland (7-1) - Ten-game winning streak to start the year snapped by Seven Hills last week. Quality win over Wyoming.

5. Wyoming (7-4) - Cowboys have slumped with two straight losses but other two losses have come to DI schools.

Girls' Cincinnati Big-School Division
1. Lakota West (12-0) - Firebirds already own two big wins over No. 2 Mount Notre Dame and No. 3 Oak Hills and are clearly the top team at this point of the season. Could possibly run the table at 20-0 with only a couple of tough games remaining on the schedule.

2. Mount Notre Dame (10-2) - Cougars have rebounded from shaky 2-2 start with eight straight wins. Only losses to Lakota West and Kentucky powerhouse Lexington Catholic.

3. Oak Hills (9-2) Good wins over Colerain and Winton Woods. Two losses to No. 1 Lakota West and strong Princeton team.

4. Mercy (11-2) - Strong schedule with only losses to No. 2 Mount Notre Dame and Hughes who sports a record of 11-2.

5. Winton Woods (9-1) - Warriors only loss to No. 3 Oak Hills.

Girls' Cincinnati Small-School Division
1. Taft (9-3) - Senators have won six of last seven games, good win over Seven Hills.

2. CHCA (11-0) Unbeaten record but not an overly impressive schedule.

3. Badin (9-4) - Nine wins playing a tough schedule keep Badin in top 5 despite four losses.

4. Seven Hills (9-3) - Two losses to No. 2 CHCA by eight points both times and a 7-point loss to No. 1 Taft.

5. Georgetown (10-2) - Georgetown riding a 5-game winning streak after dropping two straight back in early December.

Northern Kentucky

1. Covington Catholic (11-2) - Tough schedule and big win over Lexington Catholic keeps Colonels ranked No. 1. Both losses have come against Mason County.

2. Holmes (11-1) - Only blemish on Bulldogs resume to date is a 49-44 loss to Louisville Male.

3. Highlands (9-0) - Bluebirds are the lone unbeaten team remaining but have not played the toughest schedule yet. Upcoming games over the nest week against CovCath and Boone County will be a good litmus test.

4. Boone County (12-2) - Rebels one of the hottest teams in the area winning 12 of last 13 games after dropping season opener to Holy Cross.

5. Newport Central Catholic (7-2) - Big win over Cincinnati small-school No. 1 North College Hill. Lopsided losses to Highlands and Boone County.

Northern Kentucky Girls

1. Conner (9-1) - Good wins over No. 3 Notre Dame and solid Holmes team. Not-so-good 68-48 loss to average Dixie Heights team a big question mark.

2. Boone County (11-4) - Lady Rebels are unbeaten against local competition.

3. Notre Dame (6-4) - Pandas are playing a brutal schedule with decent results so far.

4. Simon Kenton (10-3) - Pioneers on a 4-game winning streak.

5. Highlands (6-4) - Lady Birds have fared OK playing a tough schedule.
