Hacks Fab 5 Poll

Cincinnati Big-School Division

1. Moeller (15-1) - Crusaders have played a tough schedule with a brutal four-game stretch coming up at the end against Elder, Withrow, La Salle and St. Xavier. Still unbeaten against local competition. Only loss has been to USA Today No. 3-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (NJ) 56-45.

2. St. Xavier (16-1) - Solid schedule. Bombers lone loss of the season is to No. 1 Moeller 63-54.

3. Elder (13-2) Panthers being overshadowed by GCL South Division rivals Moeller and St. Xavier. Panthers riding an eight-game winning streak. Close losses to Moeller (49-44) and St. Xavier (63-53) but rematches await.

4. Withrow (13-2) - Tigers are still unbeaten against local competition and have quality wins over small-school power Taft and Scott County (KY). Huge game against Moeller on Saturday night.

5. Princeton (11-3) - Two of Vikings' losses have come to out-of-town competition. Quality win over a good Fairfield (12-3) team.

Cincinnati Small-School Division

1. Seven Hills (12-1) - Stingers have won 12 straight and have not lost since Nov. 27 against North College Hill. Have since beaten NCH 75-66 in a rematch and also No. 2 Lockland.

2. Lockland (14-1) - Big wins over Wyoming and North College Hill. Only loss a 63-57 setback against No. 1 Seven Hills.

3. Deer Park (14-1) Wildcats on a nine-game winning streak with only loss a 60-54 setback against No. 5 Wyoming.

4. NCH (9-5) - Trojans slumping losing three of last five games. Not the trend you want to see this time of year but schedule is strong.

5. Wyoming (10-5) Cowboys have hung tough in several losses to ranked teams.

Girls' Cincinnati Big-School Division

1. Lakota West (16-1) - Firebirds lost first game of season last weekend against Ohio Division III powerhouse Regina, but keep top spot with win over No. 2 Mount Notre Dame and several wins against strong GMC schedule.

2. Mount Notre Dame (15-2) - Cougars on a roll with 13 straight wins and have not lost since Dec. 1. Only losses to Lakota West and Kentucky powerhouse Lexington Catholic.

3. Winton Woods (16-1) Warriors cruising with only loss to Oak Hills on Dec. 28.

4. Princeton (12-4) - Vikings playing well on a six-game winning streak. Defeated highly-ranked Toledo Central Catholic last weekend 57-43.

5. Oak Hills (13-3) - Good win over Winton Woods. Bad loss to mediocre Mason (9-8) team last week.

Girls' Cincinnati Small-School Division

1. CHCA (16-0) - Eagles keep winning so they stay in the top spot for another week. Interesting non-league game coming up on Jan. 28 against Division I and GGCL St. Ursula (12-5).

2. Badin (12-5) Rams playing the toughest schedule among all current ranked small-schools.

3. Taft (13-5) - Senators have quality win over Seven Hills.

4. Seven Hills (12-4) - Three losses have come to No. 1 CHCA, the other to No. 3 Taft.

5. Georgetown (14-2) - Riding a nine-game winning streak after dropping two straight back in early December.

Northern Kentucky

1. Holmes (17-1) - Bulldogs unbeaten against NKY competition, only loss 49-44 to No. 3 state-ranked Louisville Male.

2. Highlands (13-3) - Injuries have hurt Bluebirds immensely in last two games which have been losses. Have defeated Boone County and Covington Catholic.

3. Boone County (14-4) - Rebels slumping with two straight losses including a 73-72 setback against St. Henry (8-9) which has a losing record.

4. Covington Catholic (13-5) - Colonels playing a killer schedule but have lost to top three teams which keeps them planted at No. 4.

5. Newport Central Catholic (11-4) - Top small-school in the area. Good win over top-five Cincinnati small-school team North College Hill.

Northern Kentucky Girls

1. Conner (12-2) - Good wins over Notre Dame, Ryle, Holmes and Cincinnati Taft. Losses are to Dixie Heights and Highlands.

2. Boone County (15-5) - Lady Rebels playing a tough schedule, face Conner on Jan. 29.

3. Simon Kenton (15-3) - Pioneers have a few key wins, schedule is solid.

4. Highlands (10-6) - Big wins over Conner and Boone County but inconsistent.

5. Notre Dame (10-5) - Pandas play probably the toughest schedule in the area with all five losses coming to strong teams.
