Steele wins state title

We have a new girls' tennis state champion today.

Summit Country Day junior Gabby Steele won the Division II state singles title today with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 over Dayton Oakwood senior Kelsey Haviland.

Steele defeated Haviland 6-3, 6-1 in the district final at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason Oct. 13.

Also Saturday, Moeller was second in the Division I boys’ golf state tournament. St. Xavier was fourth, while La Salle was eighth.

Mason was runner-up in the girls’ state tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Course. Lakota West, which won the 2006 state tournament, was third.
