West Grads On The National Scene!
Several Lakota West alumni are making names for themselves on the college football scene this year.
Mike Lovell (class of '02)
College of Mt. Saint Joe's
5'10" 185, Senior
Running Back
Lovell has been the Mt. Saint Joe's offense in recent years. So much so that the senior's picture is on the cover of the media guide. Through three games this season, Lovell has rushed for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lovell already holds several Lions records such as rushing yards in a season (1,318) and career (3,755). He also has scored more touchdowns than anyone in school history.
Steve Rehring (class of '03)
Ohio State University
6'8", Junior
Tackle
The redshirt junior has started at offensive tackle every game this season and started nine games his sophomore year. After gaining playing time as a true freshman, Rehring was given a medical redshirt his second year due to injury.
Steve Huff (class of '04)
Murray State
6'5", 311, Sophomore
Offensive Line
Huff has started all 4 games at right tackle for Murray State. His younger brother Dustin (class of '07) is a redshirt freshman quarterback for the Racers.
John Connor (class of '04)
University of Kentucky
5'11" 228, Sophomore
Fullback
Connor has gained national exposure over the last couple of weeks highlighted by a go ahead touchdown reception over rival Louisville two weeks ago. Primarily a blocker, the hard working fullback has scored 3 touchdowns in 4 games.
Dane Romero (class of '04)
Wofford College
6'1" 210, Junior
Running Back
Romero ran a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass in a 42-31 defeat of national power Appalachian State on Saturday. It was Romero's firstt game of the season after missing the first three due to injury. Romero ran for 335 yards and had 90 yards receiving last year as a sophomore.
Tadd Dombart (class of '07)
Butler University
5'10" 180, Freshman
Defensive Back
Dombart has played in all 4 Butler Bulldog games and leads the team with
3 interceptions. He even returned one 42 yards for a touchdown. The freshman also returns punts gaining 122 yards on 8 returns.
Robby Schloemer (class of '07)
Georgetown College
6'6", 210, Freshman
Punter
Schloemer has punted 5 times for the Tigers averaging 41.8 yards/kick.
